Cisco is firing 310 employees more from its corporate headquarters in California, according to a presentation with the Worker's Adaptation and Retribution system (WARN).

As part of its struggle to stay relevant in a world of cloud technology, the router and switch have spent the last seven years of restructuring eliminating people who are considered to have wrong skills and hiring new people.

In May, Switchzilla confirmed its intention to reduce 1,100 jobs worldwide, with 250 reductions destined for the HQ of San José.

Now, in the documents sent to WARN (through San Mercury News), a service offered under United States labor law to detail the dismissals of companies - Saïda Grayson Dill, director of legal services at Cisco, stated:

"We're sorry to inform you that Cisco Systems will dismiss certain employees at the facilities of San José ... the action is expected to be of a permanent nature."

The resignation must be held between October 10 and 23, and the document is confirmed.

The notification indicated that most of the affected roles were in engineering, software and technical positions, although some staff members became involved in management, administration and support. Nobody has union representation.

In a statement that was sent to the registry, Cisco told us:

"Cisco regularly reviews your business and will always make the necessary changes to efficiently manage our portfolio and guarantee maximum value for our customers and shareholders.

"As a result, this may mean that some areas are reviewed so that we can invest in others, such as security, the data center / cloud and the network," added Cisco.
